About the Y
The Itasca County Family YMCA responds to community needs by serving people of all incomes, ages and abilities
Our mission is to strengthen ourselves, families and communities by promoting growth in spirit, mind and body.
We serve more than 6000 people in diverse communities within Itasca County. We bring together young and old, men and women, people of all faiths, backgrounds and incomes. No one is turned away for inability to pay. Scholarships, subsidies and outreach provide critical access to low-income families.
The Itasca County Family YMCA focuses on serving several vulnerable populations in our community
- Children: All kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. The YMCA provides a wide range of activities to foster healthy, productive children, including a child care, a school-age program, youth sports, an after-school youth program and special events geared toward youth and families. All youth activities incorporate the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
- Low Income Families: We are one of the largest providers of affordable child care in the community. We offer high-quality, nurturing child care to working families, and financial assistance is available.
- Elderly: One of the fastest growing segments of our membership is members over 60 years of age. We provide specialized fitness programs, social activities and events to assist seniors in continuing to live full and healthy lives.
Mobilizing community resources to meet community needs
