The Itasca Bike Trail is a 7-mile trail that branches off from the Mesabi Trail in Grand Rapids and goes north to Gunn Park on Scenic Hwy 38. This is a multiple-use trail that includes hiking, bicycling, and in-line skating. The trail provides safe and healthy recreational opportunities for local residents and visitors. |

97 miles of trail. Trail starts at the Itasca County Fairgrounds in Grand Rapids . The Mesabi trail is one of Minnesota 's newest trails, and once completed, it will be one of the longest paved trails in the United States, connecting Grand Rapids to Ely. T he trail will traverse 132 miles and connect more than 25 communities (Nashwauk, Hibbing, Chisholm and Virginia, to name a few). (See Appendix A for map of trail.) |

From Grand Rapids, take 169S to Golf Course Road . Take a Right on Golf Course Road and go 1.4 miles. Take a Right on 14 th Ave. SW – road before Grand Itasca Hospital . Go about two blocks. Parking lot is on the Left hand side. Paved trail was built in a beautifully wooded area of red pines and runs behind the hospital and onward to the Forest History Center.
